Cabin guide

Economy to first — what to actually expect.

A plain-language reference for Pioneer Valley flyers booking through the almanac.

Economy / Main

The default cabin on every domestic route the almanac tracks. Pitch is typically 30–31 inches; carry-on policy varies by operator and fare bucket. Basic-economy bundles strip out carry-on overhead and seat selection; main-cabin bundles add them back.

Premium economy / Extra-legroom

An extra-legroom cabin sold on most network and many transatlantic operators under various brand names. Pitch is typically 34–38 inches with a wider seat. Worth the upgrade on transatlantic redeyes; rarely needed on snowbird flights.

Business

Lie-flat seating on most Boston transatlantic routes; recliners on shorter regional routes. Fare multiplier on the almanac is roughly 3.6× the standard economy fare. Lounge access at both ends and dedicated meal service are typical inclusions.

First

Mostly a domestic distinction on transcontinental routes into DCA, LAX, and SFO. The cabin is real but small; recline and meal upgrade are the main benefits over standard economy.
