Foliage · Sep–Oct

Two weeks the whole region waits for.

Inbound foliage demand peaks the last two weeks of September through Columbus Day weekend. Outbound is the contrarian play.

If you live here, leave during foliage: Logan eastbound and Bradley southbound both soften when the region is full of leaf-peepers. If you're flying in, Burlington (BTV) is often cheaper than Boston for the same drive radius into central Vermont.

The almanac tracks both directions and flags fall windows on every domestic and regional entry.

Editor's notes

Connecticut River valley colour usually peaks the second week of October at Pioneer Valley elevations. Northern Vermont and the White Mountains run a week earlier; the south coast a week later.
